Ingolf Cascorbi, MD

Chairman of the IUPHAR Section of Pharmacogenetics

Ingolf Cascorbi (born 1960), has studied biochemistry and medicine at the Free University of Berlin. He received a PhD in biochemistry in 1989, was certified as specialist in clinical pharmacology in 1998, received an MD doctoral degree in 1999 and habilitated in 2000 at the Charité Berlin. From 2000-2004 he was appointed as Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Greifswald. Since 2004 he is Full Professor of Pharmacology at the Christian Albrechts University Kiel and Director of the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology of the University Hospital Schleswig Holstein.

Ingolf Cascorbi is currently Dean of Education of the Medical Faculty. He is member of various national and internal learned societies and of several editorial boards among those he is Associate Editor of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Since 2006 he is chairman of the IUPHAR Section of Pharmacogenetics and from 2007-2001 chairman of the EACPT. He has published 180 peer reviewed scientific papers and 20 book chapters. His main research interest is focused on pharmacogenomics and epigenomics of drug transporters and drug metabolizing enzymes.
